On March 31, if the Sonic Emotion Facebook fan page has reached 5,000 “likes,” the Sonic Emotion team will pick one nominated U.S. school to be named the contest winner and donate $500 to its music education program.

“Sonic Emotion is not only committed to quality, innovation and culture, but also to making sure that the generations to come after us are as passionate about music, sound and technology as we are,” said Rajeev Kapur, CEO of Sonic Emotion. “By supporting music education programs, we are ensuring that the world’s future sound technicians, musicians, artists, engineers and many more a have an outlet in which to learn, develop and express themselves.”

A nationwide survey (2010) by the Gallup organization found that 95 percent of Americans believed music was a key component in a child’s education; 80 percent agreed involvement in music programs made participants more intelligent and 88 percent believed music education helped teach children discipline. However, according to the same study, in the last five years, the number of children with access to music education programs in publicly funded schools has declined by 50 percent due to state and federal budget cuts. Recognizing the need to support these programs and ultimately the students, Sonic Emotion, the world leader in 3D sound entertainment for consumer electronics and professional applications, is launching an exciting contest to celebrate ‘Music in Our Schools’ month.
