Jazlyn Myers thinks her mother, Leeann Marx, is pretty special.

Marx has spent her career working with the homeless and people in need.

“I appreciate everything about her,” Myers said. “She gives me so much love and support, and she Is my mom.”

This mother daughter duo is pretty special. “She thinks about others before herself and is the most caring person ever,” Myers said.

Marx works at Arches, and works to find affordable housing for the homeless.

“I have worked with homeless individuals and families since 2000,” she said. “My goal is to facilitate getting families and individuals off the street. It’s about helping them overcome a lot of the barriers that they have created or had created for them.

“We at Arches try and hook them up with resources,” Marx added. “We are constantly networking with the community. We are more of a wrap-around service than just finding housing and being done.”

Marx was touched by her daughter’s nomination – and thinks that Myers is something special as well.

“For a long time I was a single mom,” she said. “It was just her and I against the world. I think that created an extra bond for us. She is just an amazing kid. We still do mother-daughter things together. You just have to be there for your kids. It’s about unconditional love.”
