Glenda Blanchard and Leslie Dinsdale have been working with the children’s choir of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church every Wednesday for the past 25 years.

The music program has made an impact of the community and is greatly appreciated. The Advent Choir, made up of third- to fifth-graders, sings monthly for the Sunday morning service as does the Primary Choir, kindergarten through second-graders.

Paul Klemme directs the Advent Bells, third- to fifth-graders who play bells on a monthly basis for Sunday service.

The community appreciates the effort of the music directors.

“They draw the children into music and teach fundamental music lessons that bring them closer to God,” said Megan Jones, coordinator of children’s ministry at St. Paul’s Episcopal.

Glenda and Leslie enjoy working together.

“Leslie and I are trained elementary teachers and started working with the choir when our children were this age,” Glenda said. “We both just love it, and children of the children we taught are now coming into the choir.”

Glenda believes she gets just as much out of teaching as she puts in.

“It is good therapy, and it keeps me young,” she said. “We love working together. We even finish each other’s sentences.”

The two music buffs trade off each week – one accompanies and one leads the choir. Each month the young students perform for the congregation.

“We try and make it lots of fun,” Glenda said. “We teach the fundamentals, but we play games and teach music elements at the same time.”

A proud community member nominated Glenda, Leslie and Paul for their efforts, stating, “The children love their time with them. They learn so much from them, and they make sure any child who attends is welcomed.”

Glenda, Leslie and Paul, thank you! You did GOOD today!
