Kidz Rock Inc. is all about empowering kids through music to get good grades and propel their future. The not for profit has been a work in progress for about seven years, and is gearing up to help kids participate in fall sports and other activities. “We are just now getting to the point where we can provide assistance to kids,” said Doc Elvis Rock, founder of Kidz Rock Inc.
“We will be helping provide age appropriate activities for pre-school kids through graduate school,” Rock said. “The Extracurricular Activities Rock Program is being designed to provide kids from economically challenged homes with the opportunity to take part in activities like taking guitar lessons, playing basketball, and being in the school play. There is a need to do that with the economy so many extracurricular activities are being cut from school budgets and parents are forced to cut back as well,” Rock said.
“In order to participate in an activity and receive assistance kids take a pledge to have attend school, and avoid using alcohol and maintain good grades and stay out of trouble,” Rock said. “There is such a tremendous need to empower kids. If we really want to make systematic changes we need to empower them. They will be better teachers and leaders in our business community,” Rock said.
Currently pilot programs are being set up in these us U.S cities, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit Michigan, and Washington DC.
In order to raise awareness about the program Kids Rock Inc. is having a contest. “We are asking kids to send in pictures of themselves participating in extracurricular activities. Children from all over can participate and can submit a photo via the website. Each week we draw from that week’s submission, for a $10 gift card to Amazon. In June first we are having a grand prize drawing, and three winners will be given $40 gift card to Amazon.com.
